The Virtual Board Game Room is a sandbox system for creatively creating and playing digital board games. VBR aims to give users as much creative freedom as possible while providing a powerful framework to be able to depict and develop board games as faithfully as possible.
VBR is aimed at game developers as well as gamers. Amateur artists and professional designers alike.
Up to six players can meet in a virtual room and enjoy the freedom of a real gaming table. As in real life, VBR does not implement any specific game rules, but offers a generic space for developing individual ideas.
Every player also needs all game data to correctly display textures and 3D objects.
VBR itself does not offer any possibility to model 3D bodies or edit textures. It combines these types of resources in a playable and editable environment. To push your artistic skills to the limit, we recommend using external programs such as Blender, Gimp and InkScape. All VBR content was created with these three tools.
Almost all classic board games and standard mechanics can be digitally implemented, enhanced and creatively rediscovered.
As a game developer, it is possible to quickly create playable and testable digital prototypes from your initial ideas in order to present and optimize them in a sophisticated way.
Modern games with complex game mechanics and elaborate game material are also possible, as the example of the game „Creators of the First Dawn“ impressively shows.
